One woman’s guide to advocating for yourself

Can we talk honestly about advocating for ourselves? I know, I know—it's not always easy. But it's so important for our well-being.

So many women say to me “I don’t want to seem like a downer to other people, so I keep a lot of my true feelings inside”.

Look, I'll be the first to admit I've struggled with this over the years. Raising my hand, speaking my truth, asking for what I needed - it didn't come naturally to me. But you know what? I've been working on it, and I finally feel I'm getting better at standing up for myself.

Sure, that little voice in my head whispers, "If you speak up, people might not like you. They might think you're difficult or demanding." But you know what I've realized? That voice is fear talking.

When I advocate for myself, I feel happier, more satisfied, and more aligned with my authentic self. And that's worth way more than being "popular" or "likable."

So here's what I want to say to you: Your needs matter. Your voice matters. YOU matter. And when you start advocating for yourself, you give others permission to do the same. It's a ripple effect of empowerment.

Now, I'm not saying it's easy. It takes practice, and there might be some discomfort along the way. But I promise you, it's so worth it.

Start small. Practice saying no to things that don't serve you. Communicate your needs clearly and kindly. Celebrate every time you speak up for yourself, no matter how big or small.

And remember, you're not alone in this journey. I'm right here with you, cheering you on every step of the way. Together, we can become our best advocates and create the lives we truly desire.
